Members shared their strategies for managing prurigo nodularis in the heat, with the most consistent advice being to limit time outdoors in extreme temperatures, wear loose cotton or breathable fabrics like Arctic Cool, stay hydrated with plenty of cold water, and moisturize frequently with products like CeraVe or refrigerated Sarna lotion. Several members described innovative approaches that have brought them relief, including using liquid bandage with clove powder to stop itching and promote healing, taking lukewarm showers followed by anti-itch moisturizers, applying cold compresses, and using Aveeno baby eczema therapy bath packets or calamine lotion with Benadryl to manage flare-ups. A recurring theme was the life-changing impact of Dupixent for many community members, with some finding that adjusting dosing frequency has helped clear stubborn lesions, though members emphasized the ongoing challenge of balancing relief with the reality that stress and heat can still trigger breakthrough symptoms.

I so agree about stress making everything so much worse. I am currently on Dupixent, which has pretty much eliminated my symptoms, but when stressful situations occur, I get small outbreaks in the places where the rash was always the worst, itchiest, and most stubborn. Thankfully, they are easy to treat with a topical prescription steroid and only last a day or two. All my best good and healing thoughts to all of you who share this crazy making condition with me. ❤️

@A MyPrurigoTeam Member -- I went out and "invested" in high quality shampoo. It helped my hair immensely. (I shared with the ULTA employee what I was experiencing and why). I was struggling with hair that felt dry, fly away and uhmm crispy....ahhh.... it worked!

Cathy924, I do believe this is a small reason we have PN. Stretching ourselves to thin in order to do for others. Stress is a killer.

I no longer have a heat problem, because I've been losing my nodules, and have found a way to turn them too scar tissue.
Liquid bandage , and a spice called clove powder.
The liquid bandage seals lthe wound, and the clove powder stops them from itching.
If using liquid bandage, read the instructions.
Some of them dry to quickly to apply the clove powder after using .
These I'll use the dabber that comes with and dip it into the clove powder then apply.
If it burns instead of itches, ( liquid bandage drys out the skin ), just use an astringent, then only clove powder, until it starts to itch again.
After a shower, I'll use just the clove powder to deaden the nerves, then remove the itchy skin around the nodules
If you feel any pain , reapply the clove powder, until you don't.
The say the reason you don't have eczema nodules on your back is because you can't get back there to scratch them.
It stands to reason, that if they don't itch you won't scratch them, and they'll go away.
It's nice not to itch.
Should mention, that any nodules that are draining fluid the liquid bandage won't work on, and only clove powder should be used on those until they dry up.

Calamine lotion with benadryl is a lifesaver for itching. It also temporarily dries up the nodules causing them to crust like chicken pox and they will fall off.
