N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC 600 mg twice per day) is a supplement that my dermatologist recommended to stop the itching on my scalp and body lesions Right now, the PN is on my scalp and the diagnosis of PN was a result of lesions on my scalp and lower legs. The punch biopsy provided the definitive diagnosis. Currently due to continued daily treatments (both OTC and prescription) I currently have 1 lesion that is active and I'm treating aggressively. I have found that consistency, patience, and daily regimens have brought me to a managing state. The diligence has worked for me not only with PN but my other chronic conditions as well. I don't plan on quitting them any time soon.
ok thanks foryuor answer. what is NAC? do oyu still have it only on your scalp?
My lesions used to itch but no longer. I use the NAC supplement and that has removed itching from my symptom list. Itching is not the only symptom to define PN.
thank you! do your lesions itch? I dont have itching
Based on my experience with the dermatology group, I think that the punch biopsy involves thought and technique. Prior to performing the biopsy, two dermatologists examined my lesions on my entire body. They then made the decision as to which lesion would be the best to perform the procedure to obtain an accurate diagnosis. I came to the conclusion of through examination and technique had a great impact on receiving an accurate diagnosis.
