Guys!!! Do NOT use any kind of moisturizer containing alcohol!!! I read a trusted news article saying that that is the worst possible thing you can put on your skin, and guess what??? It also causes breakouts! I have not been able to find anything except for one moisturizing product that does not contain alcohol, and that is Neutrogena Hydroboost. It is a wonderful product, and feels great on your skin. You can get it on Amazon for between 20 and $22. It’s a pretty small jar though, so I buy… read more

Members enthusiastically shared their essential supplies and daily routines for managing prurigo nodularis flare-ups, with one member offering an extensive list that included hydrocolloid bandages from dollar stores, Bactine spray for infection prevention and pain relief, tissue boxes for bleeding nodules, and specialized tools like fine-tooth combs for scalp management. Several members emphasized the importance of finding affordable alternatives at dollar stores, with practical strategies including Epsom salt soaks followed by CeraVe healing ointment, keeping supplies close at hand in every room, and using fabric bandages or pimple patches to prevent picking. A recurring theme was the value of building a personalized toolkit through trial and error, staying vigilant about ingredient lists in skincare products, and finding small management victories that make living with this challenging skin condition more bearable day to day.

I have found Bactine to be helped as well, as she stated above. And I also use the Hydrocolloid bandaids as well !!
Any good fabric bandaids, fabric being key,
I find anything that keeps my fingernails from penetrating the area helpful. The little zit patches as well for tiny spots.
I have been lucky to find the Bactine (generic) hydrocolloid bandaids and cloth bandaids and the zit patches at some of my Dollar Stores. The $1.25 stores.
IF you can find these products there for inexpensive, then double up while you can because it’s always 50/50 if they will have those things.
Epsom salt soak, stand and air dry, really let the salt water sit and dry, then CereVe, healing ointment. It’s a bit pricey, you can get a small tube and try it. It doesn’t take a lot. I find the salt soaks to be helpful in causing spots to become dry, but then….you can’t pick the top off! That’s why you put the CereVe on and then cover your spots, and finds something else to do.
I tell myself, I can cry all the way through whatever, just do whatever anyhow and get my head out of the Prurigo rabbit hole. Hope this helps anyone.
The Bactine is just a great way to spray and help prevent any infection and after a few minutes , it helps the pain.
Peace to y’all out there.
