I was prescribed a medicated shampoo, but my ins co. wouldn't cover it I couldn't afford $300 so if anyone has any recommendations for a calming shampoo could you please share it with me
I also have it in my nose, ears and other areas of my body. It's driving me crazy?

Hi Joanne! By any chance have you and your dermatologist discuss the itching that is associated with PN? My itching was interrupting my sleep. My dermatologist recommended N-Acetyl-Cysteine supplement..,NAC(600mg twice per day)
. I ordered the Nutracost brand through Amazon. I saw small bottles of it at Walmart and if there is a vitamin store near your house, they may have it. I have not had any side effects of itching since I have been taking it. One poster on this website told me they read about potential for serious disease. I asked for the source of the article and they were unable to remember. I had previously read several medical reports regarding its usage and I have not seen anything about it causing serious medical harm.

Thank you for the recommendation I'll give it a try.
It's so unbearable especially my head, nose and ear. I'm thinking about shaving my hair off

For my nose, ears, and skin, I use Clobetesol 0.05% after Trimincilone did not work for me (not strong enough for other areas.

I use Head and Shoulders Bare formula as my OTC. My hairdresser suggested Paul Mitchell tea tree oil shampoo. My dermatologist prescribed Derma Smooth treatment for my scalp at bedtime. It's oil based so they informed me that it should wash out with water, but I shampoo, condition, and then wash out. I can't remember if my prescription plan covered it but I had to have something so I purchased it even though it may not have been covered. All the best to you.
