I agree with Lee. Cindy,if you feel uncertain regarding the diagnosis, it is within your rights as a patient to ask for a punch biopsy so that your skin diagnosis could be confirmed and the condition treated more effectively. As long as it is done respectfully, I think it should go well .

Georgia if this lady was diagnosed with PN why tell her to Google the size shape and distinctive look is what PN sufferers nodules are all similar maybe different size different heal time different appearance on different colour skin but they all have a epicentre rooted in the sore that no matter you never get to it new skin grows over old damaged hard skin over minutes hours days skin regenerates and cycle starts again in my case nodules cycle from appearance to slight cover over the skin disc that I haven't heard any body on this speak about as that's where pain when skratching comes from as the new harden skin turns into spears under the skin and an outer disc covers it the pain is excrutiating but if they not released new skin forms over and over and over this is how my cycle is anyway and maybe 6 to 8 months to scar over. Hence my interest in people on this what creams and meds are healing them so very fast nothing stops this disease so people say they doing routine keep it at bay there is no keeping it at bay our immune system see our skin as the enemy and attacks when the best professors in the world figure how to make skin not shed we be cured I hope

Hi Cindy! What led to my diagnosis of PN was an insect bite. I woke up after being outside the previous evening, itching from head to toe.It was so bad that I contacted telemedicine. The physician advised me on how to manage the intense itching and what appeared to be welts. They told me if I was not improving to see my PCP. I went to see them only to be told that a significant part of the welts weren't from an insect bite and that I needed to see a dermatologist for a biopsy. I did as they instructed. The dermatologist performed a punch biopsy and I received the PN diagnosis. I would suggest that you might want to ask your dermatologist for a punch biopsy to determine a diagnosis. Good luck.

Biopsies are standard practice test no offence telling people on a PN site to ask a deem doc to do bloods, give different mixes of meds see if a positive outcome?
