Members looking for medicated shampoos to treat Prurigo Nodularis on the scalp shared a variety of helpful options, with Head and Shoulders Bare coming up repeatedly as a go-to OTC shampoo that many found soothing and effective. Several members also mentioned prescription treatments like Derma Smooth and liquid Clobetasol for flares, while others suggested supplements like NAC combined with antihistamines to help manage itching. A recurring theme was the importance of trying different options since reactions vary, and members encouraged checking out the site's article on PN and the scalp for even more guidance.

I use Head and Shoulders Bare shampoo daily. My dermatologist prescribed Derma Smooth topical for my scalp. I use N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC 600 mg twice per day) supplement to control the itching. I use the NAC in conjunction with OTC Zyrtec. Some people use Allegra.

Lorena , my dermatologist prescribed me Clobetasol and it felt like bugs crawling on my head, I stopped using it, I think because it was a steroid shampoo but, it might be good for someone else. Hope you find something that helps.

Cathy, thank you so much for sharing this information about Head and Shoulders Bare shampoo. I tried the serum between shampoos and it was marvelous. For the first time in 1 year I actually have clean hair. This stuff is gold in my eyes.

Hi Trudy! There is an article on this website about PN and the scalp. I have found it to be helpful and informative. It discusses shampoos that are helpful in treating PN. I have been using Head and Shoulders Bare shampoo (no added ingredients) and I have found it to be quite helpful. When I am having a flare, I have prescription Derma Smooth that I apply at bedtime. Both of these products have helped me tremendously.
