How can prurigo nodularis impact the kidneys?

Prurigo nodularis doesn't directly impact or damage the kidneys. However, kidney disease is recognized as one of the conditions associated with an increased risk of developing PN.

The relationship works the other way around - having kidney disease may increase your likelihood of developing prurigo nodularis, rather than PN causing kidney problems. When kidney function is compromised, it can trigger the intense itching that leads to the scratch-itch cycle characteristic of PN.

If you have PN and kidney concerns, blood tests can check your kidney function to see if kidney disease might be playing a role in your condition. Treating underlying kidney disease may help improve PN symptoms in some cases.
