Thank you for the information on treatment of the scalp. Mine itches so much I am often up at night. I have yet to have a dermatologist listen to me.

Try a different dermatologist whose one of her/his specialities is hair loss.

I did 90 days of antibiotics at one point. I had a flare-up over this past weekend. Spreading to my face and neck rather agressively. I've never had this happen in 2 1/2 years. I'm going in on Wednesday, but I will see a different PA as mine is unavailable.

Has the person’s dermatologist with scalp prurigo nodularis been prescribed antibiotics for treatment of their PN?

My dermatologist prescribed the antibiotic Doxycline 100mg twice a day for my PN two years ago, and it has been a miracle.

The Docycline helps with the inflammation, which relieved my
scalp itching and its resultant scratching.

I also had bald places, mainly on the top and both sides of my scalp, which have now fully grown in with new hair.

Once the itching stopped, I started taking my derm’s specially formulated vitamins and 1/2 of a 2.5 Monoxidil prescription tablet.

When I still had bald patches, I went in once monthly to have scalp injections to help with regrowth of hair.

After two years on the Doxycycline and taking the vitamins, my hair is thicker than it has been in years.

She was treating me for Folliculitis prior to my biopsy. Evidently scalp PN must be more difficult to diagnose.

Iam trying to not eat sugar and flour I try to eat a balanced meal plan protein, vegetables, 6oz fruit in morning and 6oz fruit with lunch
