Hi Pearl! I was thinking about your situation. I remember seeing a specialist dentist at the University of Pennsylvania. At the time, my dentist was concerned that I had lichens planus and a treatment plan was needed. Thankfully, I didn't have that, it was manifestations of the severe dry mouth associated with Sjogren's.
I would ask your dentist and dermatologist about this. There may be something else happening.
I think we all can agree Prurigo symptoms are not from repeated scratching.. And I'm pretty done with this being repeatedly stated in these IA answers.. But, to give my opinion to your question. I would not rule out any symptom you are having from this disease we all share. I think we just have to keep researching and find out the root cause of it.. I personally have had break outs in my mouth. Most of my breakouts are located on my face but have had them on my back where I cant reach to scratch.. I am sorry you are dealing with this..
That's a really important question. Swollen, bleeding, or burning gums are not typically recognized as a direct symptom of prurigo nodularis. PN primarily affects the skin, causing itchy raised nodules from repeated scratching.
If you're experiencing gum issues, it's worth mentioning to your doctor, as it could be related Show Full Answer
Hi Pearl! How about that? A dry mouth is a form of torture! I'm constantly trying different products to address it. My current thing is ice water. I've been craving it!!! I no longer travel without my arsenal of water, hard candy, and gum.( sugarless).
