Members discussed Botox injections for prurigo nodularis pain relief, with a dermatologist noting it wouldn't typically be tried before Dupixent or Nemluvio. Several members shared practical coping strategies including NAC supplements, Allegra, Clobetasol, Lidocaine cream, and a multi-layered treatment approach, with one member emphasizing that PN requires a complete toolbox rather than one solution. A recurring theme was emotional support and pushing back against victim-blaming, with members validating each other's pain and encouraging self-advocacy with medical teams.

Thank you Cathy924! Yes, I think I have a nervous system reaction or overactivation that is strongly contributing to my PN. I get very sharp shooting stinging pains in the lesions, and also throbbing pain randomly throughout the day. I read online somewhere that Botox is sometimes used for PN even though it’s off-label. I will see my dermatologist on Monday and I’ll ask about this. I also get my second injection of Dupixent on Monday. Crossing the fingers … thank you for your kind advice!
Wishing you well. 💕

Those comments are mean spirited and uninformed.

Kay brings up a very good point.
There is way too much victim blaming with this disease. Don't fall for that nonsense. What you are experiencing is real and not something in your imagination and not something you caused.
Stand up for yourself and don't let doctors brush you off.

Thank you so much, Marc. This is the kind of information I can’t necessarily get from a dermatologist (well-meaning as they may be). Experience tells a lot. This is a complex condition and it makes sense it requires a multi-pronged treatment approach.

To anyone else reading this, and to anyone who has been shamed for scratching their skin, I am very sorry this happened to you. It is not helpful or appropriate to shame anyone living with this condition. I am new to this, and I can tell that much already. I am here because I need support and understanding. I find this to be a very supportive forum.
Thank you all.
