I had a biopsy at the dermatologist which was positive for PN. Ever since then it has progressively gotten worse even though I take dupixent and moisturize constantly. I'm literally at my Wit's End some months are worse than others but I feel cursed. I don't feel like I'll ever date again I'm already 63 years old like this just put the icing on that cake! So few people have it that I feel like nobody would even consider dating me the way that I look it it I look like I have the chicken pox… read more

Hi. Mine never goes away. But it seems to be getting better. I had about 20 on my back for a while and down to 8. Right now, I’m down to 6. They are raised and always bleed. Ive been on Rinvoq almost a year and is wonderful for eczema! Just added nemluvio to see how it helps with the PN. Like others mentioned, I think sweating and heat make it worse.

Hi Phat Nana! The heat and stress exacerbates.y PN. My dermatologist encouraged me to try stress reduction. I have pray, meditate, do deep breathing, and strength training. Since you looking to date, maybe look towards your church (if you attend) and your friends. Maybe join a senior center. I hope that you feel better soon.

Hi Cathy! By and chance, could the experiences at church be allergic in nature? Stress is an issue as shared by my dermatologist.

I have allergies to Methylchloroisothiazolinone and methylisothiazolinone. MCI/MI. These are Formaldehyde Releasers, used in just about every product on the market, as a preservitive. I am religious, but sitting next to someone in church or anywhere can cause an outbreak because of what their clothing was washed in or soap, shampoo, etc. they used can cause me to have an outbreak. Since I started Nemluvia shots, my life had become much better, but I still have scars. I still have issues with Stress because of self image. I hope this is helpful.

First, it's completely understandable to feel overwhelmed and discouraged — PN is genuinely tough to live with, and those feelings are valid. You are absolutely not alone in feeling this way.

Flare patterns vary widely from person to person. Some MyPrurigoTeam members describe irregular flares, while others notice more predictable cycles like yours. Tracking your flares in a journal — noting sleep, diet, stress, weather, and skin changes — can help identify patterns and triggers to discuss with your dermatologist. Regarding Dupixent, research shows it typically takes about two months of consistent use to notice results, and up to four months for maximum benefit. Some people need even longer. It may be worth having an honest conversation with your dermatologist about whether your current treatment plan needs adjusting.

Common triggers worth monitoring include:

- Heat, humidity, and sweat
- High stress levels
- Dry air
- Certain fabrics like wool or polyester
- Skincare products with irritating ingredients On the emotional side — nearly half of people with PN experience depression or anxiety alongside their condition, so what you're feeling is recognized and real. Speaking with a therapist or counselor can genuinely help, not just emotionally, but stress is also a known trigger for flares, so managing it can have real physical benefits too.

As for dating — plenty of people with PN do find meaningful relationships. Your worth isn't defined by your skin. 💙
