How extensive was testing by Dermatologist prior to diagnosis?

All of that was in addition to examining the lesions and having her partners viewing them.I went to my PCP initially thinking that the itching and spots were a result of being in someone's back yard with no insect repellent. The physician said that while some of the spots were insect related; others were not and I needed to have a biopsy ASAP. Hence the diagnosis of PN.

My dermatologist did laboratory studies, did microbiology studies specifically cultures for bacteria that could cause folliculitis. She also performed a punch biopsy which determined PN.

I went to four different Dermatologists before getting a diagnosis. Diagnosis was done visually and confirmed with a biopsy.
