Sometimes physicians arrive at a diagnosis by eliminating all other possible diagnoses. Given today's health care climate and insurance reimbursement issues, physicians are reluctant to order a great deal of laboratory and other studies to arrive at a diagnosis. Physicians will order studies to determine a diagnosis but not every study available for conditions that the patient desires to have completed. It's a balancing act for sure. Diagnostic studies along with the patient's insurance coverage; quite a balancing act. Trust in the physician's education and expertise is so important to patient well being. If you don't trust your physician, perhaps you need to have a frank discussion with them regarding your concerns.
