I am having trouble coping with this new life with PN. I can’t swim anymore, I cancel plans all the time due to insecurity of PN, can’t be outside long. I just don’t see this improving at all in my future and feel so lost. How is everyone coping with PN? I’ve tried getting indoor hobbies but I miss my “old life”

Members opened up about the profound isolation and emotional toll of living with prurigo nodularis, sharing how visible lesions and scars have led to hurtful comments, job loss, canceled plans, and fear of judgment in public spaces. Several members described coping strategies that have helped them reclaim some quality of life, including wearing protective clothing, working from home, doing part-time gigs that offer flexibility, taking things one day at a time, and pushing themselves to stay connected to the outside world despite the anxiety. A recurring theme was the need to keep moving forward without shame, remembering that everyone is fighting their own unseen battles, and refusing to let the disease steal every bit of joy or human connection.

I hear ya! I went to a doctor for an upper respiratory infection and I didn't know I had PN at the time with these itchy nodules all over my arms. The Dr. Accused me of being a drug addict. It happened 2 x. I told them take a blood test if you don't believe me. The one Dr. Yelled it loud all office heard him. I was calm and asked for the antibiotics and I also reported him. I am not going to let these doctors humiliate me just bc they have a degree. Or think they're higher than me. Only God sits that high. This disease is hard to deal with. I just do it one day at a time!!

No matter what, I go out, or I would be so depressed. You only get one life folks and it's going way to fast for me. You can't go back, so keep going forward. Whether you know it or not, your fellow humans are all going thru something.
So stop licking your wounds(pun) and get out!
