How does everyone deal with PN on their face and the craters that is left going out in public I've been wearing a mask for 5 years

I have PN bad on my face the scars and craters are awful embarrassing humiliating can anybody help what I can do to maybe help with my scars and the craters to heal without leaving terrible scars. Thanks hugs and prayers for everyone on this site! 👑🙏🏻🌹🫂❣️🛐💯🪽🫶🏻

I don’t know what your dermatologist has.you on, but Nemluvio is supposed to work for healing scars. I can tell you that it’s working for me but it’s not instant. Just a thought.

Hi Donna! I had another thought about the scarring. It may be useful to contact your dermatologist to determine if they have some recommendations about treatment of scarring.

When a nodule begins to appear on my face, I immediately treat it with Clobetesol 0.05% to shut it down. My dermatologist said that it was fine to use the Clobetesol as long as I didn't apply it near my eyes. I maintain my daily facial routine. I use CeraVe hydrating cleanser and then moisturize using the products that are for dry skin. CeraVe has different formulas so you can find one that works for you. My dermatologist recommended to avoid scratching and picking at the nodules due to possibility of scarring an infection. Prior to my diagnosis of PN, I thought is was acne so I used a Neutrogena spot treatment. Surprisingly, it did work!

The less you scratch, the faster nodules can heal and the less severe scarring may be. This is tough, but it's the foundation for improvement.

* Keep fingernails very short to minimize damage when you do scratch
* Consider wearing gloves, especially at night
* Cover affected areas with bandages or clothing when possible to create a barrier

Treatment options that may help with active nodules and prevent new scarring:

* Topical corticosteroids and anti-inflammatory creams
* Steroid injections directly into nodules
* Dupilumab (Dupixent) - the only FDA-approved medication for PN, which showed significant improvement in clinical studies
* Phototherapy (UV light treatment)
* Cryotherapy to reduce inflammation

For existing scars:

After nodules heal, scarring and skin discoloration can persist for a long time. Working with a dermatologist experienced in PN is essential - they may recommend treatments specifically for scar management once active lesions are under control.
