Members overwhelmingly agreed that heat and humidity trigger painful flares, with many describing breakouts, blisters, and intense itching that worsen in warm weather and lead to avoiding beloved activities like swimming or being outdoors. Several members shared practical strategies for managing symptoms, including wearing loose cotton clothing without rough seams, using cool damp towels around the neck, applying sunblock and UV-protective gear, scheduling outdoor activities for cooler morning hours, and some even using menstrual pads to cushion irritated areas under arms or around seams. A recurring theme was the emotional toll of visible skin changes and scars, with members expressing self-consciousness about wearing swimsuits or shorts and a shared longing for relief, whether through medications like Dupixent or the arrival of cooler fall weather.

Miserable this summer. I’ll never wear a swimsuit or shorts again. The scars are embarrassing. I get flare ups around anything that touches my skin especially around where my boots rub while I’m riding my horse and we won’t even talk about the areas that rub sitting in the saddle for 4 or 5 hrs. Yay me. I’m actually somewhat looking forward to fall. Never thought I’d ever say that.

And everything has them! I ended up last summer putting menstrual pads under my arms. It helped a bit.

I have been on Dupixent for almost a year. It has really helped but unfortunately I still get flares from heat and sun 🌞. I do my daily walks early in the morning and yardwork in the shade 😎. I know what you mean about seams!

I have noticed that during my flare all of the seams of my clothes are causing irritation. That has been interesting to deal with. I went ahead and ordered some friendly clothes if you will. Some cooling fabric things and bamboo viscose. Curious if it will make a difference bc I am hyper aware of all of my clothing seams right now and it is irritating.

My doctor seemed to suggest once the dupixent takes effect that I can enjoy the outdoors and sunshine again. It's a bummer. I love summer and being outside.

Yes, heat and sunshine bring on flares. I even find elastic waistbands cause me to break out. I'm indoors during the heat of the day unless I can find shade 😎. Don't swim anymore as arms and legs look so bad. I wear long sleeve shirts with uv protection a lot. Always have sunblock on my hands and exposed parts of arms and feet.
