I didn't know Gabapentin was prescribed for PN, I was taking it for years for nerve pain due to cervical and lumbar issues but recently stopped. The only prescribed meds I've tried for PN were two different steroid ointments, mainly Clobetasol and it doesn't work for me. My scalp is the only area I have PN and I also have another skin thing that I believe is connected somehow , it's called lichensclerosus and ugh that's the pits too. Sorry that I'm rambling.

My husband takes Gabapentin for his back pain. PN is not a nerve disease. It is a genetic disease from Chromosome 20 on the long leg. Gene IL-31. I think doctor's try to help their patients by treating symptoms instead of cause. Sometimes that is the best and sometimes it is not the best. If it works go for it. My husband can't make it without his gabapentin so go for it,

Lori, gabapentin is typically prescribed for nerve related pain. It could be that their physician could have prescribed it for PN related pain.
