Hi Amy! I have PN on my scalp too. I suggest reading the article on this website:" Prurigo Nodularis and the Scalp". It contains some valuable information. I use topical prescription medications to treat my scalp. I use Clobetesol 0.05% to treat the eruptions on my scalp. I also use Derma Smooth as well. Derma Smooth is applied at bedtime and is oil based. I shampoo it out in the morning. I take N-Acetyl-Cysteine supplement (NAC 600 mg twice per day) for the itching. Head and Shoulders Bare is my shampoo. I do my best not to pick at them because I don't want to risk an infection or hair loss.
I have it on my scalp. it burns but it doesnt give me a headache
Hi Amy! I would like to suggest that you contact your dermatologist regarding the burning and headaches. I have headaches regularly and I take extra strength Tylenol. The burning sensation that you are describing reminds me of nerve related pain. Definitely worth a phone call.
It may well grow back if your leave it alone….so hard to do . I have several and embarrassed to go to my hairdresser.
I also developed a small bald spot on the top of my scalp due to continuous itching will my hair grow back?
