Hi Becca! I have found that developing a daily skin routine has helped me tremendously. I shower using Dove sensitive skin body wash, CeraVe hydrating facial cleanser (approved by the American eczema foundation). I then moisturize my body with Lubriderm Advanced Therapy (red label),, and I moisturize my face with L'Oreal and CeraVe retinol serum. I've used CeraVe facial products as well. I purchase dermatologist recommended or formulated products. My dermatologist recommended N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC 600 mg twice per day) supplement to control the itching and I don't itch anymore. I use prescription topical medications such as Clobetesol 0.05% for the lesions,/nodules associated with PN. I have a topical prescription medication for my scalp as well. It sounds like a lot of work, but once you establish a routine with products that work for you, it's not difficult to maintain. I didn't read whether Rinvoq is working for you. If you're undecided or not feeling like it is, there are options. Dupixent didn't work for me and Nemluvio had not been approved. However, working with my dermatologist and developing a routine has helped me a lot.

Hi. Thx for all the details. It’s helpful. I was in dupixent for years and it was an absolute lifesaver with my severe eczema. Had not yet developed PN. Switched to nemluvio and wasn’t working well on either eczema or PN. Rinviq works great for all over allergy response, eczema, feeling good, but has done nothing for PN. I am def self sabotaging but ugh. Just got a consult approved for the phototherapy. Fingers crossed !

Thank you. Makes me feel a little hopeful. I’ve been on many other meds. Thought nemluvio would do the trick but unfortunately no. Interested in Others’ attempts.

Has anyone had success with NB-UVB phototherapy for prurigo nodularis?

Phototherapy is considered a generally safe and potentially helpful treatment option for PN. It uses artificial UV light to reduce itching and inflammation by exposing affected skin to specific light wavelengths. Some dermatologists recommend it as an effective option for chronic itch and other skin conditions.

However, phototherapy is often used as an add-on treatment rather than a standalone option. Many specialists use it in combination with other medications because it may not be strong enough on its own for moderate to severe PN.

To get phototherapy prescribed, you'll need to discuss it with your dermatologist. They can determine if it's appropriate for your situation and refer you to a facility with the specialized equipment. Treatment is typically done in a controlled healthcare setting where your exposure is monitored - either with a handheld device for targeted areas or a full-body machine.

Since you're already on Rinvoq and still experiencing significant symptoms (itching, picking, bleeding), it's worth having an honest conversation with your doctor about whether phototherapy could help as an additional treatment, or if adjustments to your current plan might be needed.

Don't hesitate to advocate for yourself if your current treatment isn't providing enough relief.
