Members rallied around someone struggling to get a prurigo nodularis diagnosis after 13 years of being dismissed by dermatologists, with many sharing they had similar experiences of being blamed or told their symptoms were psychological before finally getting proper recognition. Several members emphasized the importance of requesting a punch biopsy to confirm diagnosis, seeking care at teaching hospitals or from PN specialists, and not giving up when doctors dismiss concerns, with many stressing that the itching and lesions are not the patient's fault. A recurring theme was practical relief strategies that have helped community members manage symptoms, including NAC supplements, lidocaine and pramoxine creams, cool water soaks, and prescription topicals, along with fierce encouragement to keep advocating for proper medical care.

Hi Dolly! I scheduled an appointment with my dermatologist. Two of them examined my lesions and made the decision to perform a punch biopsy. A punch biopsy addresses all 7 layers of skin. Within 3 working days, I received a phone call from my dermatologist informing me that I was diagnosed with PN. I am grateful that the dermatology group knew what needed to be done for my benefit.

I agree with you Marc! Please stay the course; NAC has truthfully been beneficial to me! If you are questioning your treatment plan, please communicate with your dermatologist in order to have it adjusted to your needs!

Give the NAC a week or so to build in your system. Fingers crossed for you.

Thank you all so much for the validation and support! I bought some NAC to see if that helps.
