I also had two biopsies and both came back specific for "itchy bumps" disease.

Hi Marc! The biopsies were to diagnose what these sores are. No, I have never been confirmed purigo nodularis. The doctors took the non-specific as a positive for purigo nodularis. Wait a minute and I get ignored.

It's completely understandable to want more answers — two non-specific biopsies can feel really frustrating when you're dealing with something as intense as prurigo nodularis!

Beyond biopsies, doctors can order additional tests to help rule out other triggers or underlying causes contributing to PN. These include:
- Complete blood count (CBC) — checks for signs of infection, including parasitic infections
- Kidney, liver, and thyroid function tests — to check organ health
- Hemoglobin A1c — checks blood sugar levels
- Hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and HIV screening — these can increase PN risk
- Direct immunofluorescence staining — a special biopsy test that looks at immune activity in the skin It's worth having a direct conversation with a dermatologist about requesting these broader tests. Being specific about concerns — like ruling out fungal or parasitic involvement — can help guide what gets ordered.
A pathologist can also use different staining techniques on biopsy samples to look for specific cell types or reactions, so asking whether additional staining was done on previous samples is a fair question too!

I’m wondering. Did anybody get these things after the COVID shot because I never had these until then.

Georgia, I forget, have you ever been on a biologic for your PN, either Dupixent or Nemluvio? If not, IMHO, you should demand your derm put you on one or the other.
