Has anyone else with PN been prescribed doxepin, and does it help with symptoms like dry skin and sleep issues?

Doxepin is an antidepressant that also has antihistamine properties, and it's sometimes prescribed for PN to help with itching and sleep. Some MyPrurigoTeam members have found oral medications like this helpful, though results can vary from person to person.

For dry skin, some helpful tips include:

- Apply fragrance-free moisturizers or emollients regularly
- Use warm (not hot) water when bathing
- Keep showers or baths short
- Avoid harsh soaps — try mild or soap-free cleansers
- Use only products labeled for sensitive skin As for sleep, PN and nighttime itching go hand in hand unfortunately — about 7 in 10 people with PN report their condition significantly disrupts their sleep. The good news is that getting your itch under better control often leads to better sleep too.

It's always worth discussing with your dermatologist how doxepin is working for you over time, and flagging any side effects. Don't hesitate to advocate for yourself if things aren't improving! 💙
