This is the one that I bought off of Amazon: Globe Capsaicin 0.1% Pain Relief Cream 2 oz, High Potency 3 - Pack. I started using this over a year ago and forgot about it until someone reminded me in this group. Being consistent has made a huge difference for me.

I tried the Globe product and thought it was bogus. The Rugby brand was the only one that actually has the listed amount of capsaicin.

Dealing with severe nighttime itch is exhausting — hopefully this helps point you in the right direction!
A small study on prurigo nodularis found that capsaicin cream at a concentration of 0.025% to 0.3% was effective. Participants applied it 4 to 6 times per day, and after 12 days, itching was eliminated for all of them. Skin lesions also began to heal. A few important things to keep in mind:
- Capsaicin creams are available over the counter in varying strengths
- Common brands include Zostrix and Capzasin, but always check the concentration on the label
- When symptoms stopped, about half of participants saw itching return within two months — so consistency matters
- Always check with your dermatologist before starting, as they can recommend the best product and strength for your specific situation
It's also worth noting that capsaicin can cause a burning sensation when first applied, so starting with a lower concentration may be a good idea.
